i had mesh repair on 18th June. I underestimated the recovery. Last year I had surgery when my bowel was strangulated from the first hernia, my recovery was easy that time around.
I have been given such varied advice for recovery. One doctor said 1kg max weight to lift for the 6 weeks. The next one said 5kg for the 6 weeks.
im nearly at the 3wk mark and just changed the kitchen bin, I could lift it easily with one hand. But then after I put it in the outside bin I realised that was probably more than 5kg. Maybe it was 6/7kg.
I even got the bin man to check it (🤣) and he said between 5-10kg.
I’ve googled and get varied answers.
If I can easily lift something and it feels ok to, is it ok to? I’m not lifting things all the time, mainly the kettle, opening the boot of the car, as little as possible. But the bin needed changing and I’m on my own here. Just panic once I’ve done it.
anyone had this surgery before and have any advice, I’d much appreciate it.
I work in a shop, on my feet a lot or sat a desk. Looking to go back Monday at 3.5wk mark. This has been delayed because I have had a very painful haematoma which is as of today, reducing.
thank you.
