Croup and asthma

is there anything I should watch for as DD1 has her first bout of croup[tis usually ds who gets it] but dd1 also has moderate asthma currently fairly under control but just wondered if I should be checking for anything else.

Oh poor you - my DD has it too . I know that with croup they look pink and flushed - if they become pale / blue and breathing is difficult, you are meant to whizz them off to the Dr / A&E or call an ambulance if really bad and have them in a steamy bathroom while you're waiting for them to come. Don't give antihistamines (e.g. medised, piriton as that will make it worse). Cold fresh air and steamy air are the good things.

I've currently got my knickers in a knot about whether I will hear her if she runs in to trouble in the night

lol thankyou just replied on your thread. ds has croup about 4 times a year but is normally healthy..dd1 brings the added bonus of the asthma which tends to be triggered by anything. Last night when coughing /wheezing only knew it was croup because she wasnt tugging as normal and inhalers didnt help. 2nd night is usually worst for ds so that will be tonight for us

Ds has had croup many times and also has severe asthma it tends to come on very quick with him and he really struggles
Don't hesitate to go to A&E if you think she is getting worse.
Ds gets something called stridor which is a really horrible sounding noise when the child breaths in. Every time we have had to call 999 and been rushed to hospital for more treatment nebs and steroids.
