Second post as update. I’m 49 years old. Found a breast lump near nipple 2 days ago. GP examined me and described smooth fixed lump of 3x2cm. Urgent referral. Everything I read suggests fixed means cancer. Anyone have any positive stories at my age?

Hi, Is it new? I had one which was like an olive shape and fixed. A doctor said it was nothing. Urgent referral and a biopsy confirmed normal tissue. 15 years later,(14 years ago) I did have breast cancer. Treatment very successful. 90,% of the time, it's nothing. Be positive no matter what.

Noone on here can tell you it's cancer or not cancer.
The good news is that breast cancer detection and treatment is very well funded under the NHS.
I'm 6 years since diagnosis. You'll get an appointment very quickly for the breast clinic.
The breast clinic is a one stop shop. They have doctors, radiologists and specialist breast care nurses. You will probably have a mammogram first and then see the doctor who will have the results in front of her. The doctor will examine you and then arrange an ultrasound. They may do a biopsy at that point as well.
Then you go back in to see the doctor.
Their expertise is such that they often know at this point whether it’s cancer and they will tell you if they think it’s likely, they won’t send you home without a clue.
This can easily take 3 or 4 hours but at the end you have a good idea what’s wrong.
