Daily nose bleeds in teen boy

Hi,

I wondered if I could ask for advice on how to stop regular nose bleeds in a teen boy?

It started because he rubs his nose very hard so it kind of folds at 90 degrees, and also because he was picking it. He has stopped now, and only dabs it with a tissue very gently when needed. It still keeps bleeding every day, sometimes even when he is asleep.

The doctor said when it bleeds, pinch for 15 minutes and be very careful for 5 days to allow complete healing, but it's difficult because the nose bleeds start when he is asleep.

He is ASD and recently switched from gluten free to coeliac diet which dramatically reduced anxiety.

He's also off dairy and sugar by his own choice.

He recently started taking these vitamin supplements to make up for the loss of fortified breakfast cereal which was previously a very necessary source for vitamins:

Boots multivitamin with iron
Solgar magnesium, zinc and calcium
Solgar vitamin k

He's a bit short of iodine, and we haven't found a new whole grain since he went coeliac.

I would be realy grateful to know if anybody knows what to do.

Thanks!

Ask to have it cauterised. I had it done myself two years ago.

Look at a humidifier - mine is much worse when the air is dry. Or at least leave a tub of water out somewhere near the bed.

Also look at how to keep the nose damp ie a saline spray or saline gel.

My teen son had very frequent nosebleeds and the Dr prescribed an antibiotic cream as there could be a slight infection stopping the blood vessels healing. It was called Naseptin. He hasn't had a nosebleed since we used it for a week
