Weird burny rash

Does anyone know what this is - found it this morning? I'm usually very allergic to bug bites which is what I thought this was at first but it's not reacting like my bites usually do which is get a big swollen ring around them and come up in a big fluid filled blister and I've never had so many bites in one spot. It's burning not itching. It's on my left side just under the rib cage

I'm on daily strong antihistamines to stop bite reactions, I wondered if it might be shingles as have been under a lot of stress recently. Will be getting medical advice tomorrow morning anyway but unable to sleep due to the burning.

Shingles? IANAD but it sounds very like it from your description.

I did a google search on both photos and it said shingles for each photo.

Start taking Vitamin B if you don’t already.

Yes I think shingles. Poor you, rest up x

You need to start antivirals straight away if it’s shingles. Have you had chickenpox as a child?

flamingoshoes · 03/07/2025 00:10

Ah thanks everyone, hopefully it won't get much worse.

Agree, burning rash on one side likely to be shingles. If you can't get in at a GP you should be able to access antivirals through a pharmacy under Pharmacy First (if you're in the UK). Hope it clears up soon for you Flowers

Hollyhobbi · 03/07/2025 07:47

You can only get shingles if you’ve already had chickenpox so it is highly likely you have shingles .

Yep went to pharmacy and it's shingles...luckily don't feel too unwell just a burning pain.
