I'm in need of a hip replacement because of arthritis, I have been on waiting list for about year and a half. For about the last six months I have developed pain ( I'm confused as to whether my joints or muscles are causing it) the pain is equal both sides of my body, It's getting worse over time and it's so hard trying to get out of bed as every movement causes such pain, I can't lift my arms up to take a shirt off , or brush my hair properly, I have to sit on a chair with lots of cushions as my knees hurt to lower myself on to seat , I was a dog walker , until hip pain made me have to stop, but this all over pain in neck ,shoulders , top of arms top of back , inner thighs , back of knees is totally overwhelming and Doctors say they don't know what it is , has anyone had similar and did it go away? I'm so worried that I'm going to end up in wheelchair or not being able to get out of bed anymore , my Doctor has prescribed cocodamol and amitriptyline, they hardly take the edge off.

You need to ask to see a physio.

Have you had a blood test for CRP or ESR? Has your GP considered polymyalgia rheumatica?
