a few red spots came up on my one year old son's tummy 4 days ago. i took him to the doctor whosa it could be CP but that i would know by the next day if it was, but that it could be bites from rolling around in the grass. well now he has more spots spread to his back and arms and now one on his leg but he has no temperature and is not crying and has as much energy as usual - he's sleeping fine. what's going on?

what do the spots look like?

children often feel worst just before the spots come out IME
then you just have the itchiness to contend with, and boredom of being stuck at home

I am clicking on all the chicken pox threads tonight as my ds also has a few small red spots on tummy and back, that don't really look like much
Typical chicken pox is to have a few spots and then LOADS, and for them to weep and then be crusty
ds's aren't doing any of those

the spots are small and red and do look like bites to be honest but lots of little ones quite visible. i think it must be CP and just read that posted article on it and it says 2 weeks of nightmare - i am supposed to be going on holiday on monday next week.

you see I think that cp spots are larger, with a yellow kind of centre

even if he has it, you should be alright - they aren't considered contagious once the spots have been out for 5 days now I believe - check on NHS direct
