Advice please for getting over a stomach bug.

I think I picked up a stomach bug from my mother's care home, residents families were warned there was sickness and diarrhoea going round. After visiting her Sunday morning, Monday night had three lots of vomiting, no diarrhoea but slightly loose stools yesterday morning.
Made an appointment to see my doctor because I'd been sick last Sunday (8th) but he said that could have been brought on by vertigo as I woke up with the room spinning.

Thankfully I've not been sick since Monday night, and I've been prescribed Buccastem tablets to stop nausea and sickness. Hardly ate anything yesterday, but had pretty much a full breakfast this morning & I'll have something to eat in the.next hour.
However, I've no energy, feeling totally lethargic, just lying in bed this morning, no get up and go.
Anything else I can be doing to move on e.g. aspirin, paracetamol, I honestly felt better yesterday than today.

Sounds like you are on the path to recovery op. I think plenty of sleep and good hydration are very important. It takes a full ten days to recover from some bugs. So listen to your body and take the time to recover properly. That lethargic feeling is intended to stop you rushing around, especially in this heat.

You may have had a virus before you went to see your mum which would explain the dizziness? And this made you susceptible to the stomach bug?

Once you are feeling better, some apple or pear compote, some dry toast, a boiled egg might be good.

Catch up with your gp if you are still concerned next week?

Hope you feel better soon,

Have you read the NHS page on vomiting and diarrhea? That explains what to do and when to be concerned.

It sounds like you need some rest to allow your system time to recover.

Great advice, thanks for taking the time to reply.
It's the lethargy today that's caught me off guard, literally just lying on my bed, no energy.

I wouldn’t bother with any painkillers, flat coke is good for settling the stomach and giving you sugar, stick with small meals to up your energy levels. I always take energy drinks as they seem to help.

Thanks for your message and sensible advice .
Along with the intense heat today I've barely done anything, just lolling about on my bed expending as little energy as possible. Barely moved.
I had beans on toast at lunchtime with grated cheese on top, it was delicious.
I'll go for a flat coke later on too.
