Started taking magnesium. Sleep and memory improved. I loved it. However it’s been giving me the runs. So I’ve stopped taking it. Apparently it’s a common side effect. I want something to do the same. Any suggestions?

The magnesium oil spray is a good substitute which doesn't usually have the same runny bowels issues. Spray on soles of feet before bed

What type of magnesium is it? Magnesium glycinate is least likely to affect your gut. Citrate is used to improve bowel motility, so avoid that, and oxide might affect your bowels a little (but not as much as magnesium citrate).

Alternatively you could use magnesium bath salts or oil rubs.

It was glycinate I think. A nutrition geeks one. But it was a large dose of magnesium. So not sure whether to try a lower dose.

I fell for theirs too before I read the label (after suffering the not so nice effects of it). Does it say it’s glycinate 3 in 1? As it does in fact contain a fairly potent dose of magnesium citrate. Really shit labelling (literally in some cases😳).

You can use magnesium flakes, patches, oil, spray or lower the dose.
