Hi!

Many years ago (I think 8-10), I had root canal on a molar tooth. On Monday, I discovered a chunk missing from the tooth! Initially I thought I’d broken a bit of tooth off, but I now think it may be missing filling - it’s hard to see, it’s a top tooth and I’ve stuck a mirror in but it’s difficult to tell what’s tooth and what’s filling.

Now my question - it’s not bothering me. It doesn’t hurt in the slightest. It’s sharp on my tongue, but my tongue doesn’t naturally touch it, so it’s only sharp if I prod it Blush! Do I need to do anything imminently?

I’ll be totally honest, I’m very dental phobic. I had a panic attack as soon as I realised, as the realisation hit that it could be a dentist job. My issue is that in a few weeks, we go abroad for 2 weeks, so paranoia is setting in that I’ll have an issue when we’re abroad.

Can I leave it for now? Do I need to pull up my big girl pants and just get on with it? I’m assuming the no pain is due to the previous root canal and their being no root??

I would go to the dentist and get it over and done with.

If the filling has come out you are opening yourself to potential infection.
Put those big girl pants on and go the dentist.
