How long do you have to wait for hospital referrals?

I know there are targets and guidelines and so on these days, but I've no idea how long.

DS2 was referred to consultant by GP, and has now had that appointment.

The consultant has recommended him for surgery and referred him to another consultant.

We will have a wait now for an appointment to see the surgeon. How long?

Then another wait for the appointment for the operation itself. How long?

it should be a max of 18 weeks for the referral, and 18 weeks on the waiting list.

In reality, consultant-consultant referrals, are often quicker, and they often take into account the time you've spent waiting to see 1st Consultant (although at the moment, they don't have to).
