Over the last 6 months...

● Irregular periods (lighter, longer in duration, some mid cycle bleeding). Previously none (mirena coil, still "in date") and prior to that when younger debilitating heavy.
● Shorter cycle length (28 days down to about 20-22)
● Significant PMT/mood changes around period. Never experienced before. Includes anger/irritability 24-48hrs before (very out of character), then when my period starts this is followed by a sudden drop in mood and motivation, and increased impulsivity (which manifests in the form of eating and spending), very tearful (again, very out of character).
● Low energy, fatigue
● Difficulty concentrating, unable to make decisions, like my brain grinds to a halt
● Muscle and joint aches
● Hair loss

The other week or two of the month:
Feeling relatively normal, active, fully functioning human. Then the above hits like a bus again.

What could this be? It's becoming increasingly challenging and difficult to manage 😣

Have you had a thyroid function test?

lyinginthebathpondering · 10/06/2025 17:25

How old are you? Sounds exactly like my perimenopause was…

How old are you? Could be perimenopause.

Dontsayyouloveme · 10/06/2025 17:25

Have you had a thyroid function test?

Sorry should have added - about 6 months ago went to my GP about the memory/concentration stuff - thyroid normal, not anaemic, no vit deficiencies

Edit: was longer than that. Maybe 9 months. Before the rest of this nonsense started!

Well that sounds pretty unanimous at this stage doesn't it?
