How much discomfort is normal after an endoscopy (I had one this morning)?

I’m in quite a bit of discomfort when I swallow food down including soft food like plain yoghurt, and intermittently afterwords. This has been going on all day, I had the endoscopy at 9am this morning. I had breakfast when I got home, which wasn’t too bad. I had lunch and again it wasn’t too bad, but significant discomfort. This afternoon I had a lie down (I napped for a bit), and had waves of discomfort, including after sipping water. I’ve just had plain yoghurt, and had more discomfort. It’s a little bit painful. The endoscopy report was fine, no issues, except some polyps which were removed for biopsy. Is this normal?

It’s only been a few hours, it’s normal to be in pain still. Unless you’re struggling to breathe from it then just give it time. The pain while eating can sometimes take a few days to settle.

I wasn’t in pain after either of my endoscopies. On the other hand, my DH was in pain and I ended up taking him to A & E.

I was expecting this pain and discomfort, the letter about the procedure didn’t mention it, it’s reassuring to hear that it’s normal to get some discomfort. What did A & E do for your husband? Did it turn out to be ok?

I wasn’t in any pain at all after mine. Had slight discomfort like a scratchy feeling but was totally gone by next day ? I had a biopsy taken too and I wasnt sedated but no pain

My DH was admitted. You don’t really want to know what happened.
