Had my gallbladder removed 2.5 weeks ago all went well and recovery good
All of a sudden sharp and severe pain above my belly button can barely walk. Been at a&e have been advised pulled muscle or possibly hematomia and sent away with pain killers, Anyone else experienced this? It feels like they are guessing and afraid it’s something else.

Is there any redness to the area? It could be an infection where the dissolvable stitches are. Keep an eye and if it goes red or hot go back to A&E.

@SoScarletItWas No redness and bloods all ok but the pain is unreal, I was fully healed and fine this has just came on all of a sudden and it’s been two days worth of pain. I am in more pin now that after the operation.

Hi, I had my gallbladder out and ended up in a&e less than a week later due to excruciating pain. No pain relief worked. They did a CT scan as they were concerned it was pooled blood. Ended up having a hematoma but also fluid on my lungs from being hunched over for months. I know this isn’t where your pain is but can you go back and insist on a scan? Anything could be wrong following surgery

Check out sphincter of Oddi dysfunction

I ended up with 2 hernias on the midline alongside one of the incisions. Felt so much better after the op DH and I showed DD a dance we'd made up to Brown Sugar. Obviously there was a gap between the staples and something popped through and was stuck. Got an emergency appointment with the surgeon and a shed load of tramadol and told to rest. This was in France though.

I have sphincter of oddi disfunction, pain is much higher for me than belly button. What has been the advice if the pain doesn't resolve after a course of painkillers? Btw be careful of codeine after gallbladder removal, it was fine for me in the immediate aftermath and then 6 to 9 months later, it was not something I could have it increased pressure in the biliary tree
