Thrombosed Haemorrhoid

Just wondering if anyone has had the joy of experiencing one of these?

No they are not your average haemorrhoid but their evil cousin!

So far nothing seems to be helping. Tried various over the counter creams, ice packs and generally just trying not to put pressure on it.

If you’ve had this my questions are-

How long til the pain went away?
What did you find helped best for the pain?

I had this during my recent pregnancy due to the chronic and severe constipation I was suffering at the time. I honestly didn't experience any pain to speak of though it was unbearably itchy and made sitting uncomfortable due to the size of the thing. The GP gave me some cream which I can't remember the name of but, truthfully, the discomfort didn't subside until the thing burst. After that, It decreased in size immediately and was far less troublesome.
I did have a moment of terrible panic though as it burst just after I got out of the shower. I was sat on the bed putting my knickers on and, when I stood up, there was blood on the sheets and I had a horrible moment of absolute panic thinking it was connected to my pregnancy so was quite relieved when it was just the pesky haemorrhoid!

See your GP asap and they should prescribe a haemorrhoid cream which contains a steroid and lidocaine to dull the discomfort. This should help with the discomfort at least. Eventually it will reduce and you should then be able to push it back in. You may be left with a skin tag. I still have that pesky reminder many years later due to pregnancy and a very large baby!
