Toenails falling off and bulbus tip (pics attached)

So I've noticed changes in my toes the last whole and now a full toenail has fallen off and that toe, a long with the same toe on the opposite foot is bulbus looking in comparison and the toenail on the other foot is also detaching and thick.
I can see on each of the toes next to pinky is hollow and only seems to be attached at the nail bed.
I've done a Google search and I'm seeing lots of scary info.
I will of course be calling the gp on Monday, but has anyone seen/had similar???

Do you run a lot? I know marathon runners often loose their toenails. Are your shoes rubbing on your nails?

Podiatrist here.

It's difficult to see from the angle of the pictures but it appears that your second toe on each foot are slightly longer than the big toe.
This means that they are more likely to suffer with trauma from footwear and the second toe picture bears that out as some thickening is happening.

Make sure you have well-fitting shoes that accommodate these longer toes. Also pick footwear that doesn't allow your foot to slide forward in the shoe. At this time of year you can wear sandals that allow for these longer toes.

The nails will eventually grow back, so don't worry.

If you are still concerned book a check-up with a Private Podiatrist, the GP won't be able to help as I doubt you'll be eligible for NHS Podiatry Treatment
