Is this actually dermatitis? Sooooo itchy!

I’ve suffered dermatitis on my hands for years but recently I’ve got this awful itch recurring and I’m not convinced it is dermatitis.
I’ll add some pictures but I’ve got these small spots that appear on the palm of my hand and inside wrist. Those areas along with the skin kind of on the top of my thumb joint are soooooo bloody itchy.

I’ve tried steroid cream from pharmacy but doesn’t seem to help.

Any thoughts on if this is something else going on?

Have you tried taking an anti-histamine?
Any chance you've come in contact with someone with scabies? Random thought I know, but it can cause an incredible itch.

Edited to add, what causes your dermatitis? Have you changed washing detergent, hand wash/soap etc? Do you wear gloves for work or washing up?

It's pompholyx eczema

asunnywintersday · 06/06/2025 17:16

Yes it looks like pompholyx/ dishydrotic eczema. So itchy. Mine is caused by food allergies.

ChocHotolate · 06/06/2025 17:18

3rd vote for Pompholyx

onmywaytowonderland · 06/06/2025 17:22

Yep, another vote for eczema.

fransitchyhands · 06/06/2025 18:57

Thank you. I’ll look into that.

Yes, agree with PPs. I get it along the sides of my fingers and it gets bad in summer if I lie on my hands in my sleep and they get sweaty. I haven't found anything to really help with mine.
