Dd has got pox. Donig usual stuff, but dd has swollen eyes from pox and wondered what would be good to relieve that.

Also in ears and mouth and wondered what I could do to help with her irritation here.

Does she have it actually in her eyes/eyelids? If so, I think you might be wise to ask for medical advice as I think you can get meds to help. Can you call your GP?

cluckyagain · 22/05/2008 08:06

Ring up the GP though - don't go in!

lulalullabye · 22/05/2008 08:16

Second the gp if in eyes.

mummynumnum · 22/05/2008 08:19

It is on lids, above lids and then one in corner of eye.

My children had it in/on their eyes and mouth and loads on any excema patches. It's an evil, evil bug!
Anyway good to get gp advice, I didn't though but it was okay here -they are all better now but it wasn't much fun!

Phoned NHS direct said not much you can do but to go to GP if temp, weeping, inflammed etc..

Are you using Piriton Syrup? Reduces the itchiness "internally". My DD1 had 1 on the inside of her eye, wasnt much that I could do,seemed to bother me more than her.Bicarbonate in the bath helps too.

mummynumnum · 22/05/2008 08:56

And how do you know the diff btwn c pox red and inflammed red???

OP posts:
mummynumnum · 22/05/2008 08:58

Just done a porridge oats bath-she looked at me v oddly.

How much bicarb in water?

Nursejo · 22/05/2008 09:01

I guess "inflammed " would mean surrounding area around the spot involved too.Although when 1 is in or near the eye, they are often blodshot, but I think this has alot to do with DC's rubbing their eye.

Nursejo · 22/05/2008 09:02

Whoops sorry,I just sprinkle the Bicarb in until the water was a little cloudy, maybe tablespoon approx.

mummynumnum · 22/05/2008 09:04

That will be my next trick then. She has two v big ones on back that are q red, but not sure whether inflammed or not. Does not seem to have temp.
