Sharp pain when swallowing food

Hi all,

I am really worrying about this strange pain I’ve had since yesterday. I’m wondering if anyone may know what it is or have experienced it before.

Basically when I swallow food I get this sharp stabbing sensation in the mid-part of my back. It doesn’t happen when I swallow liquids, just food. I’m a very anxious person as it is so this is sending me crazy! I’ve literally got sweaty palms as a type this!

I keep thinking the worst, GP said it was probably strain and should go away in a couple days but to call back if it doesn’t.

I can’t stop worrying, anyone out there experienced this? Any advice/reassurance would be great right now xx

If it doesn't go away then it might be reflux. GP should be able to help. But definitely wait a few days at least!

Had this last week for a couple of days. Was awful but happened after I'd fallen badly a couple of weeks before. Has yours come back at all? It's a really awful sensation isn't it. When I wasnt eating I was fine, swallowing drinks etc but then even tiny amount of food and like an electric shock down my back. Hopefully a one off weird thing for us both!
