Chronic Pancreatitis

Hi there
My mother (mid 60s) has just been diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis after an ultrasound scan. She has been very ill with retching for the last 2 weeks as well as feeling tired (none of the other symptoms though, which is a relief). She has never smoked, used to drink alcohol but gave it up 2 years ago and was never a heavy drinker. She has had some powerful medications that could have contributed to this. She isn't due to see the GI specialist until next week which seems like a lifetime away, especially when she is so poorly (and none of the antisickness pills work - GP has said there is nothing else they can do). ANYWAY... I am in a bit of a panic and so worried about her. Is anyone able to share their experiences of living with chronic pancreatitis - what are the next steps etc. Right now she can barely eat anything. Literally the odd cracker here and there. I am so scared.

Hello, sorry to hear about your mum being unwell..I don't have any advice I'm afraid but just wanted to send good wishes..hope the GI specialist can put your mind at rest a bit.

Dp had pancreatitis and it was awful. Very painful. He was told to make sure he kept his fluids up and eat low fat food. Has she had a diabetes test as there’s a strong link between the two and that might be contributing to her feeling unwell.
