Colestyramine 4g oral powder sachets - after quite a battle I’ve finally been prescribed this. I believe I have BAM and am hoping this will give me my life back. I’d love to hear others experiences with this medication. Did it work? What are the side effects? What is it like to take? I’ve not got the medication yet. I look forward to hearing from you all.

I also have BAM. I was diagnosed via a sechat scan after years of symptoms.
I take questron lite powers and alternate with Colevsevlam tablets.
I used Colevsevlam for years before it stopped working, then switched to questron lite. I know find I can take one for a while before symptoms start up again, so switch to the other. No side effects for me.

When I first started on Colevsevlam it made a huge difference to my symptoms.

For me now symptoms are back, not as bad as before. But I do find GP's have little understanding of BAM.

I hope the meds work for you as BAM is miserable.

Is it something you take everyday?

Yes, everyday. I found it was easier to drink in a yogurt type drink (or orange juice at a push) than just mixed in water. I got swapped to the colesevelam tablet eventually.

I have BAM too, diagnosed 5 yrs ago after a sehcat scan after 30 years of suffering. I didn't find the powder worked so take Colsevelam tablets every day.

I also take Enterosgel twice a day which is an absolute godsend. Expensive but you can get good discounts/subscriptions and that's the one that has literally changed my life. Hth x

Any advice how to start taking it in regards to timing of food and medication?
