Having a colonoscopy in a few days but no Plenvu prescription (UCH)

I'm starting to panic... I'm having a colonoscopy on Tuesday and they've sent me a booklet with all the info I need as regards preparing for it, but they haven't told me how to get hold of the laxative (Plenvu)!

I was away last week so couldn't chase it up, but this week I've rung the hospital multiple times but no one ever answers and I can't leave a message. Yesterday I asked my local pharmacist and he said they can order it in but it costs £25! And of course I wouldn't know the dosage or anything. (Plus, although I can afford the £25, a lot of people wouldn't be able to, so surely this isn't how I'm supposed to get hold of it?) I then went to my GP surgery, where the receptionist was very sympathetic but couldn't help me beyond sending an urgent message to the doctor to see whether she knew what I was supposed to do. Haven't heard back yet.

I'm supposed to take the first dose on Sunday. The pharmacist said it takes about a day to order in, so I'm getting worried it's too late as the weekend looms. When I originally got the appointment I presumed they'd send through a prescription nearer the time.

It's UCH in London, if that's relevant.

Has anyone else had to sort this out?

Each time I have had a colonoscopy they have given me the medication at the hospital irba prescription to get from the hospital pharmacy and there has been no charge for it. It sounds very odd and as as though the consultant or whoever you saw forgot to give it to you.
As you can't get through to the hospital j would wait until your GP gets back to you.
If you can't get it they may have to rearrange your appointment.

DH was sent it in the post. You need to get in touch with them I'm afraid. The first time he did it they forgot to send it and he had to got and pick it up from the hospital in time for him to start it.

It's only 36/48 hours before hand so there's still time to sort it. I would ring as many hospital numbers as you can. Try your GP as they often have a more direct line to the hospital.

Mine usually comes in the post but I was advised to collect in person on one occasion because our post is terrible and time was short!

Thanks for the replies.

I'm going to go into the hospital tomorrow (it's no hassle) where hopefully I will find an actual person who will speak to me...
