Knee Pain 😫

Hey wondering if anyone has suffered with a similar problem to me. Since I’ve been a little girl I never sat with my legs crossed 😂 I’ve always sat with my legs in a W shape. As I became an adult it would be uncomfortable for me to sit on the floor with my legs crossed due to sitting the other way for years. I’m 32 now, having sat on floor with the W legs and for the last few years I have been experiencing pain in my right knee. It’s gradually got worse to the point it’s affecting everyday life. There can be times where is feels absolutely fine, then if I’ve been in work, or out walking it’s painful and sometimes feels like my knee has given way and I struggle to walk. Sorry for the long message, however I’m looking to see if anyone else has experienced this. I’m worried it may be arthritis. I avoid the doctors at all cost and realise I will have to go eventually (if I can get an appointment)
thank you in advance

Id need to know a bit more info first… Any chance you are hypermobile?
Have you sat on the floor ‘w’ in the last few years? Or just when you were little?
is the pain in your knee on the left side of your right knee (medial aspect) or the right side of your right knee (lateral aspect) or at the front by the knee cap?

Sounds like hyper mobility to me - I have the same.
For no apparent reason I have lost the cartilage behind my kneecaps so have pain and very creaky knees - they can flare up and be painful too and I know certain positions irritate them as
well. On bad days just moving my foot from the accelerator to the brake is painful.
You probably need a referral to the musculoskeletal team so ask about that. You will likely need an MRI to diagnose what’s going on, but MSK will refer you if it’s needed.

I have similar knee issues to you but my problems stem from my hip and pelvis and that in turn affects knee stability. Hopefully they will check your gait and order X-rays and scans of both.

I have CP and used to sit in the W position
I was told I have lax ligaments but have always had knee issues
It's more likely to be a soft tissue problem that arthritis or possibly pre patellar problems which are very painful
At the moment I have bursitis in both knees, which is fluid build up in the sac between kneecap and cartilage( Sac is the bursa) so it could also be this
Treatment is rest, ice and strong painkillers ( I'm on extended release Dihydrocodeine)
Get an appointment with GP.. I did an e consult and sent photos

Sounds like mild hypermobility. I have it in my lower joints and only sit in the lotus position, anything else is really uncomfortable and painful.
my knees sublux numerous times a day, they basically slip out of the socket slightly, not full dislocation (yet) but it happens a lot and I have lots of little bruises around my kneecaps (some big ones too).
I’ve had physio and have been given knee and muscle strengthening exercises to do and advised to start non weight bearing exercises like swimming, yoga and static cycling.

Do you know much about knees in general? I’ve just been diagnosed with arthritis in my knees but tears in the medial meniscus with peri meniscal cysts! I’m paying privately to see an orthopaedic surgeon but can’t get an appointment until 4/7😱 what can I do in the meantime, my knees are so painful, not just to walk but lying in bed is awful!

My 5 year old daughter is hypermobile and has been told by physio sitting in the W is a big no no! Sometimes she wakes in pain and sounds similar to what you experiencing. Think it’s mostly alongside growing pains or very active days. She’s been advised Swimming is good and also been given some mobility exercises etc
