How long should a vaginal scan of the ovaries take?

I had one this morning - it was v uncomfortable and took 25 mins.
I had one years ago and dont recall any disocmfort or it taking so long.
I was told to phone by GP if I hadnt heard from them within a week.

I am 58. This is for post meno bleeding - which I have had twice before and those two hysteroscopies / biopsys of womb lining were clear. I am on HRT.

My mother died relatively suddenly of ovarian cancer (no symptoms until 9 weeks before).

Mine was around a half hour. As it was the consultant gyne doing it, she told me the results right away as soon as I had gotten dressed.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful. It may be a post code lottery thing.

Mine took around half an hour. Was a pelvic ultrasound for post meno bleeding so not just ovaries. They tried to get a proper look without having to go in vaginally but that was not possible. So the actual vaginal part probably took about 10 minutes tops. It was uncomfortable but did not hurt.

I’ve had lots over the last couple of years, and all have taken around half an hour.
Every time I’ve been told I have an “elusive left ovary” that likes to hide…..so it takes a fair bit of jiggery pokery to even find it before getting a good image, measurements etc

Thanks all. I had a text from my GP surgery before I got home from the hospital so say that I have been referred on to gynae due to a thick endometrium.

I am relieved as no mention of ovaries and I have had a thick endo for a few years with 2 recent / previous clear hysteroscopies and biopsies - so I am not concerned about that. I have started mounjaro which impacts absorption of progesterone from my HRT so IMHO that expains the bleeds - but they need to go through the process.
