Literally none

I got told to drink more water (I have alternating C&D type)

they would not listen when I told them I already drank 2ltr

fumfuddle · 28/05/2025 11:14

I was referred to a gastro consultant and later a professor. They did the usual Fodmap recommendations and one proscribed me codeine and told me to take one daily which did help for a while but I didn’t want to continue taking it long term.

In the end I went dairy free and avoid things that trigger it off as best as I can.
Being stressed is also one of the worst things for mine and I always notice how much better it is when I’m in a good place and happy.

None

I also have Mebeverine and Loperamide on repeat prescription.

Nothing

I really rate daily kefir yoghurt or drinks and colofac IBS tablets - they help with the tight/intense pains.

I was signposted to CBT, I've done it a couple of times, it helps a bit for a while, but the most recent course did nothing.

I keep getting ads for Nerva, self-guided hypnotherapy, anyone tried it? I tried a hypnotherapist about 30 years ago to no effect whatsoever.

I've also done Brain Work Recursive Therapy (BWRT) and that didn't help either.

I was given medication. The first was awful. I was lactose intolerant at the time and it contained lactose.

I've had several different types of medication none of which helped. I've had blood tests for coeliac disease as I found wheat to be a trigger

Becs258 · 28/05/2025 12:31

None. I’ve improved things a lot through trial and error with my diet, and daily Biomel drinks.

turkeyboots · 28/05/2025 12:35

I got a leaflet telling me to eat more fruit, vegetables and wholegrain.
I did the Fodmap with a private dietician years later and turns out I'm intolerant to a huge range of fruit, many vegetables and grains.

HoppingPavlova · 28/05/2025 12:35

Mebeverine

Realisation14 · 28/05/2025 15:22

Laxatives and that's it.

TatteredAndTorn · 29/05/2025 00:44

None. I eventually found the FODMAP diet myself after a few decades of pain and discomfort which had got really bad in the previous 4-6 months. FODMAP diet sorted it. I now know my triggers and can avoid/take digestive enzymes.

foxlover47 · 29/05/2025 00:46

Buscopan
that was it
