Lower back pain

I’ve had medium level pain in my lower back and specifically on the right side for close on 3 weeks now.

It hurts when I swim, I can’t bend properly and after a few hours at night I can’t lie on my right side. Resting seems to make it worse. Sitting upright or at a slight angle is the most comfortable.

I will go to the GP, but right now I’m getting in France on holiday. It’s possible me off.

Does anyone know what it might be? I’m hoping there’s some exercises I can do to alleviate it.

I wouldn’t bother with the GP. They’ll likely refer the to physio and you’ll be waiting forever. Find yourself a good osteopath.

Oddly enough, I started having left sided lower back pain last week. Decided to see a physio privately yesterday and she was brilliant. She said I had L5 facet joint inflammation. It hurt to bend in certain ways, couldn’t put socks on etc. sleeping uncomfortable . She ruled out a disc issue after examining me and testing reflexes etc, gave me loads of stretches and exercises to do. Told me to stay as mobile as possible to avoid scar tissue forming round the joint, and that it should calm down in a few days. She said a GP would only be necessary if I wanted stronger painkillers.

If you can, go and a see a pysio.

Self refer to physio if available in your area.

If not put in request to GP who should do the same.

That’s exactly how I feel @MyUmberSeal .

I've got a friend who’s an NHS physio in our area, so I’ll ask him to recommend someone private.
