Knuckle/finger problem - what could it be?

For the past few weeks two knuckles (same hand) have been intermittently swollen, sore and red. The redness is front and back of knuckle when it appears, and sometimes the knuckles are sore when they're not red.
On occasion a sore spot appears from under the skin, almost like a pimple, but never forms a head, it's just raised and red and then goes.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? No other swelling of joints, no other health diagnosis bar peri, been on hrt for about a year.

Obviously I have booked a GP appointment... It is in 5 weeks as that's the earliest I can get an in person one.

Is it your dominant hand? It fits with rheumatoid arthritis, although you say you’re not having general joint pain…

Inflammation. Try rubbing with ibuprofen gel and get some glucosamine and chondroitin from Boots/ the supermarket.

It could be pompholyx eczema given your mention of pimples. I get that around knuckles. OTC hydrocortisone cream does not help but prescription does.

Thanks - yes it is my dominant hand. I mean, I have had some joint pain (knees, hips) but put this down to peri and have lost some weight over past year and not anywhere near as clicky/achey as I was!
