How long for CT scan results?

My mum had a head CT on 9th May for her sinuses. She’s not head anything yet. When can she expect to hear?

Most hospitals say results should be sent to the person who requested the scan between 2-4 weeks after the scan if it was done as a routine matter - could be longer if requester is not hospital consultant; should be quicker if urgent request. They may be waiting for a follow up appointment to be booked before telling her what it has, or hasn’t, shown.

I had a scan on 22nd April and got the results sent to me by email on 15th May after asking consultant’s secretary to email it to me as I had an appointment with another hospital and would be useful to have the report to hand. She had to ask consultant to review and approve it being sent to me.

I would say, if she’s not heard back by the end of next week, she should contact the secretary of whoever requested the scan to ask if the results have been received yet.

Gosh that’s a long old wait isn’t it!! I just can’t believe how long it’s taken, it took nearly 4 months for the scan to even be booked!

Mine was around six weeks to get results from gp although was told they would be available after two.
