DH was diagnosed with GERD as a child, and endoscopy from his early teens showed scarring. (We don't know how much scarring.) He was on medication until his early 20s and now just has very, very occasional flare ups (usually triggered by alcohol - so very avoidable). It used to affect him at every single meal.
How likely is the scarring to cause Barrett's and cancer? Do you ever actually just grow out of it?
