Has anyone had it? Was it successful?

I started my treatments today, just 24 seconds in the booth lol. I'm going 3 times a week for the next couple of months. Just hoping for some improvement. And wondering if whilst I'm risking skin cancer a little, I'll get a tan as I'm usually seriously sun careful!

it is usually ok it can take a while to see improvements
you do realise that whilst on this treatment you have to avoid going into the sun outside as much as possible
especially lunchtimes 12-2pm
and very important use as much sunblock as you can whilst treatment is going on
they will probably up your seconds each time you go
both my boys have serois skin disorders and have this treatment 3 times a week
plus injections and steroids to try to help
im of there today actually
takes longer gettin undressed than the treatment itself doesnt it

Thanks - I've been keeping the sunblock on exposed bits since. I'm pretty good at keeping out of the sun or keeping my skin covered though so that shouldn't be too much trouble. I was told that if there was no reaction they'd increase the time I'm in each time. And lol, the whole paperwork took about 20 minutes, then undressing, getting my welders mask on etc took another few. I was barely in the booth and then it was all over.

You poor boys, that sounds horrendous, and a huge commitment too. I am struggling to fit in my 8-10 week block.

yes if you have no reaction like soreness etc
they will up the seconds you are in there
if you miss a session the time has to stay the same it delays things
my boys had 32 seconds yesterday
they are in booths next to each other all you ca hear is a big countdown from then
then a race to see who gets creamed and wins to get dressed
they go in naked no sun vizor no helmet
but they have over 80% coverage now
i hope this works for you
good luck keep us posted how you get on

suzi2 · 22/05/2008 20:57

Thanks. I hope it has some success. It was much quicker today as I was just in and out without all the paperwork. I had 38 seconds so I assume they add 14 seconds a time for me. I'll report back if it has any success.

yeah it would be good to hear it worked they are considering stopping it for my sons which is a shame but its been over m3 mths now longer than the usual time

suzi2 · 24/05/2008 21:29

I burnt today - only third session. Not badly, but my boobs and tummy (Bits that never see the sun) are a bit pink. What will they do on Tuesday? Lower the dose? Or should I call first incase they want to skip a dose (and save myself the bother of travelling in).

are you using moisturiser straight after sessions?
always moisturise even up to 4 times a day
no dont miss a dose but they might give you the same dosage as last session
slower dosages are usually the answer rather than quick ones that go higher
unfortuantly my sons have now been stopped i have been to the unit 72 times this year
it feels like it to
one has had 42 other one 30 sessions
but it didnt work for them so we are back to square one

3madboys · 25/05/2008 18:25

i had this, mine got a bit worse before it got better, but it did work and my eczma had totally cleared by the end of the session, i went for ten weeks? or something like that the effects lasted quite a while as well

disneystar · 25/05/2008 22:25

it was a bit of a guess work whether is would work with my boys as they have severe psoriasis with over 80 % coverage on body they also have injections and body bandages every day
was hoping it would work though
im glad it worked for you i have heard it can be very effective
