Bridge of nose swollen and painful

I woke up on Monday feeling like I’d been punched in the nose. The bridge area is red and a bit swollen, and if I bend down, I feel immense pressure in it. I’ve never had a problem with sinuses or hayfever before, could this be it? I’m going to go to the doctor next week if it persists, but will deter if anyone has had similar?

I’d say sinusitis. You might be able to get something from the pharmacist.

Could be either sinusitis or hayfever and both would be easy to rule out, Sudafed has always improved things for me when I’ve had sinus issues and if your nose is your only symptom (no - fatigue, heavy eyelids, scratchy/dry eyes, tickle cough, itchy skin) then I’d start there. You can get it from most supermarkets, obviously make sure there are no contra-indications against you taking it due to other medical conditions, and look for the one that specifically says sinus pain on it as they have versions for mucus cough and other main symptoms.

Sinusitis or rhinitis for sure. I get hayfever and suffer with this every year. It's so painful! Feels like you've been hit smack bang in the nose. I find the best thing is regular steam bowls, towel over my head and breathe in the steam. It relieves the bruised feeling but can take weeks for the swelling to go down.

Thank you. I don’t have any other symptoms. I saw a nurse on Thursday and she said sinus infection and gave me penicillin but it’s still pretty sore! Does any one know what causes it? It’s so out of the blue!

I'd have thought it unusual to have sinusitis without any other symptoms. Nasal polyps might cause inflammation
