Dense breasts? How would I know?

One of my sisters is living with breast cancer and multiple relatives have had cysts so there is a risk factor

I read this article and wondered how do you know what breast type you have?

When you have a mammogram they tell you if your breasts are dense and difficult to scan.

At the breast clinic they'll tell you. I went for a suspect lump and they had to spend ages doing the mammogram twice and ages on the ultrasound as the breast tissue was very dense. One said dense breast tissue, the other just said 'lumpy breasts'! But you won't know unless you've been there.

Thank you. I wonder if it’s familial

I have dense breasts. Not sure anyone else in the family does so not sure if it’s genetic!

My two sisters have it and both got breast cancer in mid life. I have not and so far been lucky.
thankfully both ok. One picked up on routine check, the other missed
