Hi MN,

I’ve got a weird, left hand, 1st finger, second knuckle.

i have no idea why, was swollen, now gone down looks like something is pertruding, under skin lump/bone etc. Have had it approx 8 weeks. No actual lumps looks more like a dislocation, maybe I’ve broken it?

I’ve dismissed it this far. TBH I can’t think of any logical reason why it’s occurred, but think it’s a bit silly to go GP/anything really.

Do I just wait longer? Not a problem if so just wondered if it was a flag/symptom of anything else.

I am unable to close my fist fully,, though I think it’s gradually improving x

I’m commenting just to bump this as oddly I have exactly the same but on my little finger, would be very interested in any answers to what it might be!

@PricklyLikeCactus Thank you, hopefully someone will be along soon.

It's it painful?

123456abcdefg · 26/05/2025 20:23

@StJamesInfirmary Yes, less so now since the swelling has gone down but still don’t have full movement.

@StJamesInfirmary yes, a bit out of shape too.

Worth checking or ignoring?

Dislocated?

SherlockHolmes · 01/06/2025 09:37

Sounds like it could be osteoarthritis. There are nodules that grow on your finger joints.

I've developed this recently in both index fingers and struggle to hold a pen, do up buttons or unscrew a jar. I've a feeling it could be arthritis and need to book a GP appointment!

@SherlockHolmes I’m going to look that up. It does sound possible, thanks!

Sorry to hear that @Dogpawsandcatwhiskers. Looks like I’ll need to get mine checked out too. May well be arthritis. Thank you 🙂

@123456abcdefg I've similar. Did you get yours checked? Is it osteoarthritis?

@Dogpawsandcatwhiskers did you get yours checked too?
