Carpel tunnel syndrome

I’m really suffering with pain and pins and needles when sitting or lying in bed. Lack of sleep is making life difficult. I am taking ibuprofen and paracetamol but hardly touched it. Anybody got any hints to reduce the pain? I have been diagnosed but waiting for a procedure.

I used to use a splint at night time and was prescribed Amitriptyline for pain.

You have my sympathy, I had this in both wrists and it was horrendous. Wrist supports day and night (heavy duty one with a thumbs splint too) helped me, along with either a hot water bottle or an ice pack - switched between them when one seemed to stop working.

Thanks. I use a splint at night but even then the pain is bad. Hot water bottle made inflammation worse so I’ll try some ice. I have RA as well so not sure what causing what.

Try the splint during the day for a few days too, that might reduce the inflammation in the wrist and mean it's more comfortable at night. I also found keeping my forearm vertical helped a bit, if I could find a comfy position with pillows to properly it up. Easier to do when sitting of an evening!

I did have to resort to over the counter cocodamol a few times at night before I finally had my ops. That really helped me sleep too!

I have carpal tunnel and am waiting for an op. I find the splint fairly useless at this stage so just put up with lousy sleep.
