Just putting this here for future. I had a colonoscopy today and posted last week as was very very worried. Now I feel somewhat foolish as it was such a non event. This is my experience.
5 days before I started the low residue diet ( which was actually the hardest thing to do and I did get a little constipated so took senna tablets. Started on clear liquid diet after breakfast the day before the procedure. Funnily enough I never felt hungry but did get a headache. Started drinking the Plenvu at 6, it wasn’t pleasant but was doable, very watery diarrhea after about an hour, 2nd dose at 9, basically peeling out your bum. Never got caught short and could always make it to the bathroom, would not have wanted to go anywhere but being in the house somewhere was fine, somewhat controllable . Managed to sleep at about 12 and didn’t wake up during the night, very watery in the morning but totally clear but yellow. Was seeen more or less straight away at the hospital, staff at the NHS unit couldn’t have been any
more nice, had sedation, a few mins of discomfort but then done, could watch everything, 1 small polyp found which was removed but looked fine and don’t need to go again. They gave me the best ever tuna sandwich, nicest cup of tea and shortcake biscuit ever. Came home fell asleep for a couple of hours, still have a bit of a funny head, not in work tomorrow because of the sedation. Please don’t be scared, not the most pleasant thing to do in the world but could just save your life.
