For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Have a gremlin style vision of blended children now!

MrsCarrot · 21/05/2008 16:00

that was last week, cod, there was a splinter thread for rebel fruit loops, there was no poo talk, no veg and only a few nipples but no-one could cope with the schism and now we are one again. I liked it. Easier to keep up.

OsmosisBanana · 21/05/2008 16:06

blueberries
raspberries
onion
lentils
red pepper
cucumber
olives
onion
tomatoes
nectarine
pineapple

Virtuous yes?

V boring day, now have to go and sand walls. I have a bit of a touching dry paper / scratchy noise phobia so the thought of it is making me feel quite sick. And no beers in sight. Duff.

TooTicky · 21/05/2008 16:34

100x, I will for you. I don't know what your secondary school was like but mine was pretty scary really. I hated it on the whole and had disembodied tummy every morning on the way.
Actually, if dcs don't like secondary I think I will pull them out rapidly as the negativity of my secondary school years drastically altered me and the way I feel about myself and that's Not Fair.
But the opportunities are good. If it is friendly toward people-who-do-well-at-school-and enjoy-the-work-and-want-to-learn then dd1 will have a whale of a time.

MrsC, sorry you don't have many choices. We are actually quite well placed here, unusually for a village.

Stuffit - that is gloriously exciting. Will you post us mangoes? Or just tell us about them until we drool.

Who else has been here? Oh Boco! Wish you could have my instructor - he was wonderfully calming and encouraging. And he had nice hands. He got me doing all the reverse parking and parallel parking and I passed but am too scared to actually use them
I can reverse around corners quite nicely though

Franny, am thinking of you being tired and hot. Hope all the tetchiness eases. Can dp take ds swimming? Cooling and tiring for them and peaceful for you...

MrsCarrot · 21/05/2008 16:36

hanged not hung

TooTicky · 21/05/2008 16:37

Where? Who?

MrsCarrot · 21/05/2008 16:41

Caroline Carmichael and Matthew Morsdon at school, off the wardrobe, but don't let me terrify you further I just couldn't leave that particular correction.

MrsCarrot · 21/05/2008 16:42

not their real names obv

TooTicky · 21/05/2008 16:43

Oh!
How shocking

MrsCarrot · 21/05/2008 16:47

Yes, it was.

Anyway..

Piles of salad for lunch, can't think what to have for dinner.

Fullmoonfiend · 21/05/2008 17:28

shoulda told cod there were 2 threads because of Unreconcilable Differences, that would have got them all talking...

100 I feel your pain.
We have Bash Street High 2 mins walk away, Snobbins Grammar School which is too academically focussed for ds, St Blessed by the Holy Thingummy for those lucky enough to have found God and a perfectly decent all-round comp - sadly around 3 miles from our home, neccessitating Ordeal by School bus for my sensitive flower.

TigerFeet · 21/05/2008 17:35

I am utterly traumatised by DD going to Primary school, I can't even contemplate Secondary school at this point.

If things stay as they are around here, she will either pass her 11+ and go to the local Girls' Grammar or fail it and go to the awful comp. I may have to Find God at some point in the next 7 years

Off to inspect compost...

Boco · 21/05/2008 17:41

Can't think about secondary school. I went to two, the first was huge and scary and full of very strict rules about the exact colour and length of socks and I found it baffling and horrid. The second was small and friendly and I loved it. Am not looking forward to that phase incase dds end up in one like the first.

I must say, my driving instructor is very good and actually as patient as I think i can expect. I am just not very good.

cyteen · 21/05/2008 17:42

Boco, you need my driving instructor. He's brilliantly calm and zen, despite looking strikingly similar to the sadistic Nazi officer in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Not that I've seen him for a while, since have suspended my lessons due to skintness.

I've got my theory test on Tuesday morning, not looking forward to it tbh, the Highway Code is so BORING. Practical and useful, but boring. Memorising stopping distances is not really my bag.

Still doing poorly on the F&V front - everything I eat is making me feel sick just now Had lovely wild salmon, new potatoes and veg last night - sicky. Had egg, chips and beans the night before - sicky. Crammed down strawberries, grapes and a disappointing apple yesterday lunchtime so some vitamins there, but all I've had today is a rubbish banana.

MrsCarrot · 21/05/2008 17:49

sausage sandwich

FrannyandZooey · 21/05/2008 17:50

oooooh what a long day
you haven't talked so much today I don;t think

Fullmoonfiend · 21/05/2008 17:51

chicken salad with red and yellow peppers, cucumber, yellow ttomatoes, sweetcorn, olives, carrots, sugarsnaps, sprouted seeds, walnuts; watermelon, banana, mango, grapes. Chorizo, tomato, chicpea stew for dinner with more salad. I am on a roll!

MrsCarrot · 21/05/2008 17:51

No, has been quieter today

TooTicky · 21/05/2008 18:02

I am so utterly smitten with tiredness that we are going to buy Chinese food this evening.

Tatties · 21/05/2008 18:12

Oh MrsC the same happened at my school

I am going to moan. I have a splitting headache for which I am taking my third lot of painkillers. Ds is in fairly constant whinge/contrary mode atm, my patience is wearing thin and I am doing a lot of shouting sighing, which is totally crap for ds. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by things I have to do. But at least my bedroom is now a lovely shade of neutral, 100 would be proud

FrannyandZooey · 21/05/2008 18:13

I have had a very long bath with Dr Hauschka things in
now am having
salad leaves, tomatoes, red pepper, avocado, chickpeas, potatoes, carrot salad

lunch was party food (with surprising amount of fruit actually - my groups v middle class ) but also quite a lot of white bread cheese sandwiches which kept calling to me in a tempting style
oh and an orange juice
we shall gloss over the really obscenely large portion of chocolate and cointreau cheesecake I also was given

thank fuck today is over, although it was fun, immensely tiring

friends (you know Swedish friend and Gnome Man) have said they were discussing taking our ds to Latitude this year. But Swedish friend said "oh no Franny would have kittens"
[conflicted emoticon]
they probably don't really want to take him
I probably don't particularly want him to go
but hmmmmmmm

OP posts:
TooTicky · 21/05/2008 18:16

But you are going to have a kitten

FrannyandZooey · 21/05/2008 18:20

((((Tatties))))
hoorah at bedroom

100 I missed the initial bit about secondary school but tbh I thought you were so, well, positive about schools that it wouldn't bother you so much
sorry it is a worry
it's good you recognise it could be difficult for them, I don't think my parents had a clue / gave a hoot

Boco I think you are v brave for pressing on with the driving. I think it will come together

stuffit wow! you can't really get more cachet on this thread than having a mango tree in your garden. You know this means all future meet ups will have to be at your house.

FMF a THIRD storming day [awe]

FrannyandZooey · 21/05/2008 18:20

TooT we aren't
I have said No to pets

OP posts:
TooTicky · 21/05/2008 18:28

No, I meant a small creature that squeaks. You know. Sorry, too cryptic.

There is a silly chaotic situation regarding the community bus which is my responsibility but not my fault. I think I will have a headache too. Also can't go out for food until it is resolved.
