I am desperate for some kind of relif

I was away on a trip and came down with a case of piles which isn't uncommon. After the plane ride home, they became horrifically painful. I saw the doctor, she said there was a quite small one with a clot, but too small for her to drain it, I would just have to wait.

I'm doing all the things you are supposed to, miralaz, eating carefully, the cream she gave me. I was doing sitz baths but now I'm finding them irritating, so the Dr suggested I just don't for now. Tucks are the same problem.

I have been having to lie down as much as possible for the last 4 days, missing work. Which is seriously stressing me out.

But the worst is the pain. I am managing most of the time, but after a bowel movement, it is about 5 hours of horrific pain. As in, I can't sit, stand, or lie down, I end up pacing and weeping until it subsides and I am exhausted. I am taking naproxen but it really doesn't touch it. The miralax is working well so they bms are soft but at this point I am terrified to go.

Is there anything I can do? I am at the point of thinking if I just don't eat maybe I won't need to poop. I am terrified its never going to get better.

I'm usually pretty stoic, but this is the most excruciating pain I've ever felt.

Are you using suppositories? I add these in when mine are bad

I have had this a few times and it does eventually go down and deflate but only with the steriod cream scheriproct I have found. I would say though if you still in this much pain then go back to the Gp? You have my sympathies, it even hurts all down your legs doesn’t it 😞

This is the worst pain ever and totally exhausted you. If you could keep your stools soft hopefully that would help

Seaoftroubles · 14/05/2025 17:38

Ask the GP for a steroid cream with lidocaine added to dull the pain. In the past when l had a thrombosed hemorrhoid l was prescribed xyloproct which really did help to take the edge off.

You can apply some castor oil on the area before you go. Also look at portable bidet on Amazon. Sitting in a bidet of warm/hot water can provide extra relief. If possible take pain relief 20 minutes before going to the toilet.
