Messed up - endoscopy tomorrow and still taking PPIs

Really messed up. Been waiting for an endoscopy for 3 months, finally got an appointment for tomorrow. Didn’t read the info properly and was supposed to come off PPIs 2 weeks ago. Amy advice? Would you go? Cancel? So annoyed with myself. Can’t wait another 3 months!

You will have to tell them. Then they will decide.

A gastroscopy? I never stopped my PPIs before having one? The only time I stopped my PPIs was when they were measuring the amount of acid in my stomach over 24h.

You need to tell them, it may be that you need another appointment.

Are they testing for H Pylori? If not, it should be OK I think, going off what I was advised when I had a gastroscopy

The only thing the ppi will affect is a h pylori test (but you can have that done via a stool sample or breath test, doesn't HAVE to be the endoscopy), ring them and advise but I reckon they'll still see you as they can still check for so many other things during the procedure

Thank you. I thought that would be the case. I’ve already been tested for H-Pylori last month, it was negative.

How did the procedure go yesterday OP?

How did the procedure go yesterday OP?

It was ok. Didn’t have sedation, wasn’t very pleasant but it was manageable and I got to walk out after my results were discussed. I have laxity on my cardia. Not quite a hiatus hernia. They didn’t test for H-Pylori because I had already done a test so me taking PPIs wasn’t an issue. Been given yet more PPIs to try…
