Hi, I’ve had three of these before for gynaecological issues (ovarian cysts).
they’re quick and pretty much pain free - I won’t lie, it feels a little bit weird as you can feel that there is something inside you, but it’s not painful just a bit of an unusual sensation!

youll be asked to remove your underwear and lie on a couch, obviously in a private room. The person doing the scanning then tends to put some lube on the end of the scanner which looks like a wand. You just lie down with your legs bent at the knee, like when you have a smear. They will tell you what they’re doing and if you want them to stop at any time they will but honestly it will be over before you know it.

I would rather have one of those than a session with the dental hygienist! Try not to worry x

I think it might be possible yes - I’ve never asked or been asked if I wanted this….you could give the hospital a call and ask beforehand to see what they say?

Just to say they don't even have to look to insert the wand - they rest it at the top of the vulva, draw it down and in. I had a male sonographer, which I wasn't expecting. There was a woman in the room.

He was very nice, pointed out things to me.

I've had quite a few as had gynaecology issue for years. They also put some tissue over you so they can't see anything, the lights are also dimmed or off, there is usually 2 people in the room with you and yes you can take someone in with you.

I had one today, my 5th in a few years. It can feel slightly uncomfortable as they press on organs but absolutely nothing to worry about, you are covered up the whole time, much less invasive than a smear
