Dentist after extraction

Hi I had a tooth out by an oral surgeon on Tuesday. It had to have a stich. We are now Friday. Around the gum is black I. Colour and I have some discomfort especially at night lay in bed. Can any one tell me if this is normal?

Is the black scab ? Are you taking painkillers at night ?

Perfectly normal

@DustyLee123 yes a scab. I had 1 painkiller only.

Since I've been awake and started walking it feels a bit better. I've just had more pain relief and rinsed with salt water.
I didn't know weather to go back to the dentist. But there is no swelling or sign of infection.
Think I'm being impatient with the recovery.
