chicken pox spots and sunbathing

ds has chicken pox, bumps will have probably crusted over by the time we are on our sunny holiday next week - will he be able to sunbathe a bit, with suncream obviously, or will the sunshine make it more likely that his spots will turn into scars?

My DS has just had chicken pox whilst we were away in Greece. We let him out in the sun (with his UV suit on and plenty of sun block) and doesn't appear to be scarred. He also spent a great deal of time in the sea, although not allowed into swimming pools because of being infectious.

Just a word of warning though, if you are planning to fly, make sure you get a fit to fly certificate from your GP as we had to delay our trip home as you are not allowed to fly with CP.

Hope this helps.

thank you libralady, was convinced that sunshine was bad for scarring...

sunshine is bad if you have just had chicken pox as the fresh new skin under the scabs (even if not scarred) burns really easily

It was very hot when dd had it and she played out in a paddling pool much of the time . Very few scars. You might have trouble travelling if he is still spotty though.
