DD found a bug on her skin when we were at the beach last week. She flicked it off but didn’t get a good look at it. It was angry straight away and now over a week later it looks like this still. We assumed a sting but now I’m concerned it’s a tick bite! The GP didn’t have any spaces when I called. I will take her to the pharmacy tomorrow as it opens but wondering if anyone has had similar and what it was? Thank you in advance :)

Google horse fly bite and compare. I'm on a phone and the image isn't great.

It’s not a classic tick bite reaction. But it is a reaction. They probably won’t treat it as tick as it currently doesn’t have the classic appearance. Try anti histamine, both tablet and cream and see what happens. It isn’t unusual to have a second reaction to a bite.
Obviously watch for illness, raised temperature etc…, as this will change things

Blandford fly?

I don't think you get ticks on the beach but I could be mistaken.

My initial thoughts were mosquito or horsefly.

I didn’t think so either but found an article suggesting they can which I never knew! Lived by the sea my whole life 🤦🏻‍♀️

I react like this every time to a mosquito bite. I use hydrocortisone and anthisan creams
