Help with post gallbladder removal symptoms.

I had my gallbladder removed 3 weeks ago as an emergency. It was very infected and stuck to my liver so surgery was more complicated and much longer than expected.

I know it's early days, but, I think I have bile reflux and I'm sick of it. Here are my symptoms: a horrid sour taste in my mouth; tongue pain - feels like it's burning; a dry mouth; constant feeling that there's something stuck in my throat. Symptoms are worse if I eat anything high in fat, so I'm avoiding that.

I've not seen a GP yet as I've assumed they'll say it should settle. I do have an appointment at the very end of this month. In the meantime, what can I do to help with these symptoms? If you had this, did it eventually settle down and after how long?

Thanks.

Gaviscon? As an interim solution. But I would go back to the GP or the surgeon.

I hope it settles for you. Pepto Bismal (or pepto abysmal as I used to call it) was my friend in the early days.
Unfortunately (and I am a rare case, so take my experience with a pinch of salt), mine never settled and I now take medication for reflux, bile salt malabsorption, plus a resulting autoimmune condition.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Can you phone the surgeon's secretary and ask if they can see you, or if there is a specialist nurse? Every consultant's secretary I've ever spoken to has been immensely helpful.
