I'm debating if I should get a haemorrhoidectomy. For the last ten or so years I've had internal and external hemmeroids. The external one is very big, now basically a skin tag which pulls down on the internal anal passage.
They cause no discomfort, but until four months ago they bleed after most times I went to the loo. With the toilet water being bright red. This bleeding happened for almost three years.
I was referred on the NHS due to the bleeding and I have been put on the waiting list for a Haemorrhoidectomy.
The only thing is in the last four months I have got a poo stool and apart from a tummy bug week or two bleeding only twice.
I'm now thinking about not having a Haemorrhoidectomy, as the recovery sounds awful and much longer than two weeks my consultant said. I always thought two weeks would be optimistic given the external one is huge almost tail like.
Given the bleeding has stopped after years and I'm in no pain. Should I not have the op as it sounds horrible.
My worry is it could get worse again or worse than it's every been. Now I'm in the system I'm worried about turning it down.
Just interested in thoughts. Almost should I have it now as when I'm older they could get a lot worse and bleed all the time again or through my clothes regularly like they did on occasion last year.
