The pain! Is it a sinus headache

I've had a cold for weeks, although now I'm beginning to wonder if it's hay-fever, even though I've never suffered before.

I'm snotty with a slightly productive cough and this headache. It's in the front of my head, behind by eyes, top of my nose and now in my teeth! When I cough the pain of "bouncing" my head is excruciating.

Is that a sinus headache and will something like Sinutab help?

It does sound like it could be a sinus headache or sinusitis. If you’ve had a cold for weeks - is your snot yellow/green coloured then it might be worth contacting GP about whether you need treatment for sinus infection. Have you taken your temp?

The snot and phlegm is a normal colour, very pale green?

Might be worth popping along to a pharmacy that’s participating in the Pharmacy First scheme as they can treat sinus infections (no need to go the GP).

Hope you get some relief.

This sounds the best plan. I ignored my sinisitus until it got so painful I couldn’t. Antibiotics sorted out the infection but I’m now on a nasal spray and eye drops indefinitely with chronic rhinitis.

Sound like sinus to me, I get bad sinus headaches without it being a sinus infection and they are so painful. Sinutab then a few hours after ibuprofen helps me plus standing in a shower as hot as you can tolerate it with your head under the water. This may help until you can get to a pharmacy or gp. Sinus infections are horrible, I feel your pain.

A wrapped hot water bottle over the painful area can help. I take co codamol when mine flares up.

Chesty cough medicine has guaifenesin in which will thin the gunk and help drain the sinuses. A saline nose spray can help open and drain them as well.

OTC medicines I'd go for Syndol in the dark blue box not Syndol Headache, and a painkiller for sinus pressure and pain, Boots do their or Sinutab.
As pp said a saline spray, it will hurt at first!

It could be hayfever - pollen count has been rising for a while now. I had a similar headache and blocked nose last week, but both have eased since i started taking a daily antihistamine (par for the course over the spring/summer months!) so that coule be worth a try?
