Hi all, i went to my GP last May with a lump on my arm and she said that it could be basal cell but probably not and that she was going to refer me to a dermatologist but it’s a year now and I still haven’t heard anything, so I rang up the GP practice today to see what story was regarding the referral appointment and she never sent it! I’m panicking as it’s starting to get sore now and opening back up again. It will be a hard lump then open like the photo and heal up again & do it all over again. Has anyone had one that looked like this? I’m thinking of going private as I don’t want to wait another year for referral. Thanks any advice welcome.

I had a similar one but it grew much faster than yours, it was quite alarming. I called the nhs surgery but by the time the GP called me back 3 weeks later I’d arranged for a private dermatologist to remove it.

id go private if I were you.

There is an app called SkinVision. Download it and take a photo of the lesion and it will compare it with about 250,000 pictures and tell you if you need to be concerned. You get about 3 free ones and then have to subscribe. I have a million moles so have subscribed but I also have some actinic keratosis lesions and it's helpful to know if they could be basal cell. It tells you to redo it in three months if it's ok.

I had one looked at by dermatology some years ago and used cream on it. It hasn't completely disappeared and I have a new one next to it, but am using the app to keep an eye on them both.
