Constant sore / scab inside nose

It’s so painful! Feels like a big lump of snot but it’s bloody and is really sore to pick off. My nose actually hurts when I touch it on the outside
Is this something I need the doctor for or can I buy something over the counter?

I sometimes get this. You just need to absolutely NOT pick it or touch it at all. It will heal but not if you keep poking at it!

I’ve had this and picked it!! Couldn’t help it

AlphabetBird · 24/04/2025 20:47

Go and get Naseptin from the GP. It works wonders. Picking will just constantly reinfect it.

You can get online from private GP/online pharmacy, but GP will be cheaper.

mynameiscalypso · 24/04/2025 20:47

You need some Naseptin. I think it’s prescription only but I’ve bought it from online pharmacies before.

Scousemousey · 24/04/2025 20:51

Don't pick it. It will heal up and fall out. Getting infections in your nose is dangerous, too close to your brain.

nyancatdays · 24/04/2025 20:53

Do you get cold sores? You can get them in the nose as well and if so they follow the usual 7–10 days that other cold sores do. Not touching it at all or even blowing nose until it’s healed is the only way (annoying but necessary unfortunately!)

Sesma · 24/04/2025 20:54

It might be a cold sore, I get them up my nose like that

Minieggloverrr · 24/04/2025 21:01

I’ve never had a cold sore but I guess they are possible in the nose. I’ll try and get a GP appointment for Naseptin

Yes I get this sometimes I think maybe from in growing hairs? Just have to try and leave it alone

ENT Dr told me to scoop a quantity of Vaseline and place it just inside the nostrils, then sniff it up. It protects the lining and when you need to blow it cleans it.
He'd got me to blow in front of him, it was the way I was using the Kleenex that scratched the inside, making it bleed. Never had another problem.
