I'm in pain. I've got stomach pain and have had for a few hours. I think this may be gallstones. I had a few attacks last month.

Would you contact 111? I have a decorator coming first thing, would you cancel?

Oh you have my sympathy, that’s incredibly painful and scary in the middle of the night. Mine tends to vanish abruptly at some point so I hope yours does too.
you could call 111 but in my experience they tend to want to call an ambulance because it’s unexplained severe pain. Do you feel bad enough for that?
I really hope it passes soon for you.

If you have gallstone pain that vanishes abruptly it’s probably because the gallstone is lodging in the bile duct. When it pops out the pain vanishes.

Thanks I've already called 111 and a Dr will phone soon. I've grabbed a bowl as I feel sick. Not sure how I will talk if I'm vomiting

The last few attacks I was vomiting for a few hours. I had one episode with just stomach pain.

Dr said if I start vomiting or pain is severe to call an ambulance. She just said take paracetamol and sip water.

Thanks. It was awful and I'm exhausted. It didn't get worse. I went upstairs and it must have moved it as about five minutes later the pain stopped.

You need to get some strong painkillers from the Dr for when you have an attack. Have you had an ultrasound to confirm you have them. I mainly had bad attacks when I had eaten fatty or greasy food so had to cut them out until I had my gallbladder removed.

I went to my GP who ordered an ultrasound which confirmed gallstones in the gallbladder and three in the common bile duct. I had an ERCP to get the stones out of the duct and had my gallbladder removed last week. In between I managed by cutting out all fat and alcohol. It's a horrible pain so I hope you get sorted out soon.

I already have codeine but I usually vomit, so didn't want to take anything in case it induced it.

I'm waiting for an ultrasound. The Dr said there are long delays at the moment. I think it was triggered by a small chocolate mousse.

It's very arbitrary.
