Dermatology MDT clinic

Can anyone please help? Back in October I saw my GP about a mole. She said she thought it was a sebhorreic keratosis (sorry if that’s the wrong spelling!), took some photos, and said she would refer me to dermatology.

I had a letter last week with an appointment next month at the dermatology MDT clinic - I remembered that MDT was associated with cancer treatment, and when I googled it says it’s the “skin cancer clinic”. Is this standard for moles (rather than a general dermatology clinic) or can they have diagnosed cancer based on photos taken on my phone camera and emailed? (Surely not?)

If it was suspected cancer you would be on the urgent pathway & offered an appointment much sooner. It will be a mole clinic. Even dermatologists can’t diagnose cancer without dermoscopy.

Thanks so much for replying. I had a letter back in December saying they had received the referral and that I was on the waiting list, with information about wait times. When i checked the waiting times there were two “lists”, urgent and non urgent. I then rang into my surgery and asked which one I was on, and was told non urgent, so I was really surprised to see I was off to the cancer clinic.

I’m in Scotland and I don’t think we have the “two week wait” here like in England.
