Folliculitis

Hello

Ive had a Folliculitis on my scalp for about 2 years now. Initially my GP was treating it with various antibiotics both oral and cream.

Finally I got referral to the dermatologist. They gave me Lymecycline to take for 3 months.

It worked really well whilst I was taking antibiotics but folliculitis was back within 4 weeks of finishing antibiotics. I went back to see the dermatologist and they said there isn't anything else they can do for me and I just need to take lymecycline every few months as they considered the treatment successful.

I totally disagree with this but not too clear what else I can request. They haven't done any tests apart from the blood test to rule out diabetes and that was done by my GP.

Is this really correct once I have it, it is really unlikely to go? If not what tests I can request to determine best treatment rather than getting randomly antibiotics.

I don't know that I have the same thing, I don't have a diagnosis, bit I noticed I was getting little red bumps at the base of my hairs on my legs, in patches. Salicylic acid serum (for your face) fixes it. I used twice a week. I also used a salt scrub with lavender oil in it once a week. This was all on top of the usual shower gel washing daily. On the days when I didn't use the salicylic acid serum or the salt scrub, I used regular moisturizer after washing.

Thanks a lot. I haven't tried this one yet so will give it a go.

However if I understand correctly this would just help me to manage the condition but I am desperate to get rid of this for good if possible at all.
